The Harleston Hare will be decorated by local artist ScribblyRoo, a member of Harleston and Waveney Art Trail Collective, with swifts, magpies and magical animals in an idyllic landscape inspired by the Waveney Valley.
The hares will be auctioned in October and the proceeds will go to Break to support their valuable work with young people in East Anglia.
Robin Twigge commented ‘Apart from the obvious benefits to the charity we believe that a hare will be a huge coup for Harleston and draw visitors to the town and surrounding area. It will complement the other activities Harleston’s Future organises to bring more people to the area.’
Harleston’s Future was set up by local residents and businesses to help the town thrive and improve the quality of life for everyone. It has no regular income or grants so relies on fundraising activities and the generosity and enthusiasm of local people and organisations.
