A word from our Chairman...

This year has been a “Great British Summer” as things are finally starting to open up again. The “Open Gardens” weekend, a collaboration between Harleston’s Future and the Garden Club, was a great success and many thanks to all of those who opened their gardens. It was also good to see “Team Harleston – Towards Tomorrow” finally happening, with Harleston’s Future’s new display of flags representing the different organisations in town. Although summer may be coming to an end, there is still plenty to look forward to. Harleston’s Future monthly Cinema will restart on 23 September with “Poster Boys”. The Food and Drink Festival is on Saturday 2 October with a Food & Drink Market on the Market Place and Exchange Street together with “festival specials” in our local shops and other food and drink outlets.

We are still working on our plans for Christmas but we can confirm that, by popular demand, we will be running a themed best shop window competition again this year.

As the seasons change, so do committee members and we need to say a big thank you to Carolyn Malinowski and Trevor Graham who are both stepping down from Harleston’s Future. We also want to say a warm welcome to their replacements, Eileen Ryan and Sam Rodgers.

As we start to look forward and hopefully move on from all that Covid has thrown at us, this is an ideal opportunity to get involved. If you would like to know more about any of Harleston’s Future activities, would like to join one of our groups (Flag Force, Events, Cinema, Environment, Marketing) or have new ideas for events and activities in the Town we would love to hear from you.
