Scribbly said ‘If you’re familiar with my work, then you might already know of my painting titled ‘After The Party’ which features a little girl in fairy wings standing next to a very tall hare in a suit, both holding colourful balloons. This is the image which most influenced my design for Harleston Hare. The red-haired girl in the canoe could even be a grown up version of the little girl in the fairy wings. Having never painted anything three dimensional before, I wanted to create a sense of movement in the design, so each scene leads you around to the next. Here, the girl is letting go of her balloons and watching them fly off into the air, drawing the eye across the painting to the tree, then the magpie and around to Harley’s other side.’
