Hare on Hare

Scribbly said ‘I couldn’t resist the irony of painting a hare onto Harley. Up until two years ago, I’d never seen a hare in real life. Then when walking the dog across the fields behind my house one sunny evening, I was lucky enough to see not one but two gorgeous hares leaping through the long grass. I suddenly understood why so many artists find them captivating. They’re effortlessly mystical, graceful creatures. I’d originally planned to put Harley’s golden hare in a waistcoat and bow tie, making him into more of a fantasy character. But having painted his lovely glossy coat and already seeing a magic knowledgeable twinkle in his eye, I decided he didn’t need an outfit- he’s intriguing enough as he is!’
